Introducing, the Guild Timepieces Mekong - Black Ops
A stealthy nod to the Operational history of the MACV-SOG. The Black Ops edition of the Mekong features a classic matte black dial and black DLC case
MACV-SOG: SOG (Studies and Operations Group) later renamed MACV-SOG (Military Assistance Command, Vietnam – Studies and Observations Group) was an elite, secret U.S. special operations unit in Vietnam. SOG conducted high-risk black ops, sabotage, recon, and rescue missions in enemy or neutral territory like Laos and Cambodia. Their missions were classified for decades and remain some of the most dangerous and legendary operations in U.S. military history.
This watch is intended to highlight and pay homage to Black Ops operators of SOG, who gave their blood and lives in service to The United States and It’s Allies.
Approximate 2,000–3,000 U.S. personnel served with SOG including U.S. Army Special Forces (Green Berets), Navy SEALs, Air Force specialists, CIA operatives, and support staff. Less than 600 service members served at the tactical level. Of those 600 operators half where killed in action with 58 still listed missing in action.
We thank them for their service and sacrifice in protecting freedom during the eight-year Secret War.
Mekong General Description: Named for the infamous Vietnam river in which it's inspiration was worn and cemented in history
This watch envelopes our roots & identity as a homage to arguably one of the greatest tool watches of all time, the Seiko 6105 “Captain Willard”
The Mekong takes the heritage of the 6105 Willard and modernizes it with features including sapphire crystal, ceramic bezel, and a screw down crown
Each watch is hand assembled in house by Guild Timepieces in the USA, pressure tested in house to ensure water resistance, and each movement regulated in house to put forth the highest quality product in compliance with all specifications.
The dial displays our original logo at 12 o-clock. Every caseback is engraved with an individual manufactured order serialization
Included with each timepiece is a a Teardown Systems Ultralight Strap in choice of Jungle Tiger Stripe or Black with DLC hardware, and a Guild Timepieces X Teardown Systems Watch Caddy Ranger Green and Coyote exclusive colorway case
Ultimately, the goal of this project was to bring all this at a level of attainable affordability for the common man
